Please only use clean, fine beach sand, NOT builders’ sand which contains lime and will irritate the skin, or playground sand which might not be as fine as you might wish. Also, if you are worried about clogging your drains, you can dispel with the sand altogether and replace it with the same quantity of fine sea salt. There’s also a variation on this remedy: Handmade Bath Salts. Bottled in a pretty jar they make a wonderful gift –and are easy to mix and make.
